{"id":3659,"date":"2023-05-04T04:59:10","date_gmt":"2023-05-04T08:59:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bostonmatthews.com\/?p=3659"},"modified":"2023-07-27T10:38:32","modified_gmt":"2023-07-27T14:38:32","slug":"boston-matthews-announces-development-of-adjustable-co-extruder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bostonmatthews.com\/blog\/boston-matthews-announces-development-of-adjustable-co-extruder\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston Matthews announces development of adjustable Co-Extruder"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonmatthews.com\/about-us\/latest-news\/\">Latest News \/<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>BY DANIEL BALL\u00a0\u00a03 MAY 2023\u00a009:15<\/p>\r\n<p>Interplas Insights<\/p>\r\n<p>Extrusion machinery manufacturer\u00a0Boston Matthews\u00a0has announced\u00a0a new space saving\u00a0Vertical Co-Extruder\u00a0(Jockey)\u00a0and main\u00a0Extruder\u00a0production set-up.\u00a0The new extruders\u00a0are designed using one common base,\u00a0thereby reducing\u00a0the usual\u00a0footprint to a minimum,\u00a0saving\u00a0\u00a0production\u00a0space.<br \/>Expand Boston Matthews<br \/>The\u00a0unit\u00a0shown\u00a0comprises\u00a0of a\u00a075mm main single-screw\u00a0extruder\u00a0with a 30mm Vertical Co-Extruder\u00a0with the company offering\u00a0a range of\u00a0extruder sizes\/outputs to meet the customer&#8217;s specific requirements.\u00a0This also includes options for\u00a0the\u00a0processing of\u00a0Fluorocarbons and\u00a0high temperature polymers such as\u00a0PEEK.<\/p>\r\n<p>The company claims that the Vertical Extruder has complete movement\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0including\u00a0up\u00a0&amp; down; forward\u00a0&amp; back; and\u00a0a\u00a0complete 270\u00b0\u00a0swivel.<\/p>\r\n<p>Boston Matthews says this virtually eliminates\u00a0all\u00a0alignment\u00a0and reduces it to just fine adjustment.\u00a0The company claims that the precision fine adjustment will help to\u00a0simplify\u00a0and\u00a0reduce\u00a0set-up\u00a0time,\u00a0whilst minimising\u00a0the risk of damage to the tooling\u00a0during the process.<\/p>\r\n<p>Both Extruders are controlled by one central control system using\u00a0the Boston Matthews developed SMART Control System.<\/p>\r\n<p>This\u00a0is a colour touch screen PLC control which\u00a0also provides\u00a0control,\u00a0recipe\u00a0storage, alarms,\u00a0trending,\u00a0network connectivity,\u00a0management\u00a0set\u00a0security levels,\u00a0production\u00a0data export and production\u00a0monitoring\u00a0safety controls.<\/p>\r\n<p>The company believes that AC, direct-drive\u00a0technology\u00a0provides precision\u00a0screw\u00a0speed holding for the highest quality\u00a0melt and output performance\u00a0whilst at the same\u00a0time ensuring maximum energy efficiency is obtained.
